Hi there Peter. What do you fish for there in CA?
You have any killer lures to share and what not?
Look forward to more of your posts. After all you guys out there can STILL TUBE!......I guess you could say we can STII TUBE but it takes on a whole new meaning. STILL meaning we are frozen to one spot...LOL[laugh]
Pictures mean a great deal to us that are frozen in, or walking on water.

Im in Thousand Oaks and no tube just
yet. I like to flyfish Lake casitas for "monster bass".
I cant wait to get my tube and stuff.

if Im not mistaken one of our members fishes Casitas a lot.. I could be wrong because I have not seen or chatted with him in a while.. but I think tn2 lives in that area.. hopefully TD or someone else can verify this for you..
please make sure and post pics of that tube when you get it.. especially pics..

[#0000ff]I am an old California boy, now living in Salt Lake City, UT. I lived in Camarillo, Oxnard and Santa Barbara...as well as Orange County, San Diego and Sacramento. I have fished virtually every mile of the coastline and most of the lakes and streams in the state. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Lots of good opportunities for tubing. Castaic Lake is a prime spot...in the basin below the lake. I also fished Casitas and Cachuma...over the hill from Santa Barbara. But, unless things have changed, they do not allow tubing there. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I also used to fish Sherwood. I understand that it is mostly private these days. Used to be some good bass, bluegill and crappies there...and movie stars lounging on their decks around the lake.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Once you get comfortable with your tube, and confident in your abilities, think about putting it in the salt water. The harbors at Pt. Hueneme and Ventura have some great fishing inside for multiple species that are just right for tubing. There are also some spots along the coast where you can launch from the beach for halibut, calico bass, surf perch and other species.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you want some BIG bass, make some trips down to the lakes around San Diego. Some have restrictions on tubing, but there are some that are great for tubing.[/#0000ff]

TD is right on the lakes in the San Diego area.. some great fishing.. but.. due to problems.. or potential problems with mud snails and quagga mussels a lot have put a ban on tubing.. and in some case any personal water craft of any kind until they get it all under control..
there are some pay to play lakes like Laguan Niguel and Corona Lake that allow tubing and there are some good size fish in them..
TD's son tn2 got me out in a tube the first time at Laguna Niguel lake and have to say it is a most relaxing and satisfying way to fish..

IF you ever get down to the San Diego area, let me know. I fish Upper Otay a lot and would be glad to have you along!! I haven't "tubed" Lower Otay yet, but I know the lake and probably will do some tubing in it this Spring and Summer.
