Fished Deer Creek the last couple of days. Today the water on top of the ice made it a beautiful setting. It also made it hard to get off the ice at the shore line. I was at Island State Park access. Lake ice still about 8 inches and solid. Fishing average for Deer Creek. Mostly 10 inch rainbows. One nice 3 pound one.
There was some one out it a boat in open water near the main launch ramp. If you read this let me know how the fishing is out there in the soft water.
Thanks

There is open water near the boat ramp and the opening to Walsburg bay but it is frozen by the dam.

What were they biting on? I have been having a hard time figuring out what they want. Fishing had been slow at DC for me fishing around the Island.

I stopped by there on Thursday evening and had some modest success for trout. The fish were in deeper water on the West side of the bay going left off of the boat ramp. They were hitting glow finkies tipped with waxworms. A finder helps a lot in getting your offering to the correct depth.
