East Canyon & Echo Ice

Has anybody fished East Canyon or Echo lately? We have a fish derby this saturday and need to know the ice conditions before we decide on where to go. Any information would be great! Thanks!

I would not go to East Canyon. A buddy and I tried tonight. We couldn't get on where we wanted to, and where we did get on just didn't feel right. We tried another spot, and he went through to his waist. Granted if you had a decent plank you could get on, but even then the ice isn't that great. I wouldn't bring a derby full of people. That's asking for trouble.

Thanks for the advise. I am a bit nervous but we will plan on taking a plank with us. I hope this last ice fishin trip for the year doesn't come back and haunt me in any way ya know? It would really stink if we went through. Thanks for the post however, we will certainly be prepared for the worst.
