Wiper Size
#1
Since I have never caught a wiper before I was wondering what a good keeper size is for willard bay?

What's considered small?

What's considered eating size?

What's considered big?

Eating size depends on how hungry you are![:p] Seriously though, I keep them 14-20 inches. I don't catch a lot bigger than that, but I usually put them back. I think the record is around 8 pounds...if I remember correctly.

The record is 9 lbs. 12 oz. & 26 1/8 in caught in 2007. It was mounted by a friend of mine Dan Johnson of Wilderness Taxidermy, I saw the fish before and after it was mounted truly a big fish.

I don't keep any fish very often. I release almost everything I catch. In fact I haven't kept any fish since I moved here in Nov. [:p]

Holly crap... I should have left out the "a"

Since I have never caught wiper (several) / a lot, is that better. Or maybe I should say since I have never targeted wipers before. What is a good size to keep?

Jeeze, give a guy a break...[Wink]

Hopefully the guys are just giving you a hard time[:/]. The size of a decent wiper is 18", because the smaller ones don't have as much meat on them, all the way up to what ever you can catch. Personally I don't keep them, don't care for them nearly as much as I do for the eyes[Wink] but to each their own. WH2
