Sportsman's whse

[:/]

Too bad about Sportsmans whse filling for chapter 11. They are much closer for me than Cabelas. Now I will have to go without or wait for a once a month visit to Cabelas. I hope they can come back under chapter 11, but I doubt it.

They will still be able to operate under a restructuring plan, hopefully they can turn things around. Sir Stu bit off more than he could chew with his rapid expansion technique.

being old I remember when SW first opened up to the public in the original warehouse, I mean a warehouse not a store. a bunch of us at sperry would go down at lunch and they had great deals then as they expanded over the years in my opinion they started expanding too much and the prices went bad like cabelas so instead of beating cabelas with pricing they raised to meet them...

I know I stopped going and went on line to get my gear.

There is too much greed for profit and people stop buying, especially impulse buying like we did when prices were awesome and they still made money off of us enough to grow the business.

Lose the business model that thrills the customer for profit and it goes away. wolfs, Zinik's all went because they forgot the formula and some big company bought them up and raised prices.

With all that said maybe now if they do clearance pricing they will again get the people into buy up good deals. Unless they do a clearance like sears in american fork and they never lower the prices below normal sales price. Store was always empty with one or two deals.

Sorry I am cheap and sporting should not be the sport of kings it should be the sport of anyone who loves outdoors. How much will be paid for the next 400 class elk in 2009. this is not good for the sport.

I sold product to Sportsman's Warehouse. They absolutely did not jack up the prices on any item I ever sold them. If anything they should have probably operated on a higher margin. If everyone wants to buy on line, then on line is all you'll be able to buy from. I like to go put my hands on a product before I buy it.The people I worked with there are top notch people and it is an extremely unfortunate circumstance that they have declared chapter 11. It will have major financial repercussions to myself and many many others. The guy who runs his web site out of his garage who sells for pennies over his cost will still be as unprofitable as ever and will never take care of you like Sportsman's always has.

Agree!

While I have bought over the web I dont like doing it if I can avoid it.. I suppose it falls under a trust factor.
And, I hate to wait for something to be ship rather than simply run down and grab it at the time I need it.
SW has always treated me good and I dont feel like half of the money I spend is used to pay for the gitter on the walls, and, I should feel lucky to be allowed though the doors because I'm not wearing a suit.

they have always done a good job taking care of the customers. i have special ordered stuff from them without problems. they just tried to get too big at the wrong time. i think they should recover if the suppliers work with them i know i will keep buying there untill i can,t[Image: happy.gif][Image: happy.gif]
