Hey Cliff -- we missed you down at Sand Hollow for the bass collection efforts. I really expected you to show up. Oh well. Maybe next time?

It's not that I totally disagree, but how can anyone make that assumption. No one ever targets Brown's at the Gorge. For instance 3-4 years ago guys were prefishing for bass tourney in Buckboard. The F&G truck pullls up and starts dumping fry into the water [not sure if it was trout or kokes], anyway the bass guys start throwing jerkbaits for the bass and whack 3 Browns over 10 lbs in one afternoon. I guess what I'm saying is 99% of the anglers chase lakers or kokes. Browns don't generally inhibit the same type of structure as these fish. They live on a different block.

[cool][#0000ff]Nobody is claiming that the browns are totally gone...or that there are no more big fish. My comments were that the forage base of chubs was greatly depleted so that the large numbers of BIG browns seriously declined.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]A 10 pound brown is a nice fish. But, I would suggest that a 10 pounder from the Gorge, under current conditions, would probably be older than the 20 - 30 pounders of the late '70's. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Brown trout develop different habits and are tougher to catch than macks or 'bows. True, the lake gets a lot more publicity for the macks. But, a whole army of knowledgeable brown trout anglers has been hammering the Gorge over the years, without producing any more of giant fish that once made the lake famous. I am not assuming anything. Just commenting on the results other anglers are showing. And, there are plenty of guys who DO target the browns.[/#0000ff]

Yeah, can you believe it. Our Old Man went through a year in WWNAM, survived getting blow to S*** and was too scared to net that monster that I had on the other end of the line. He thought it would sink the boat I guess!!! Oh well, fun times, guess I will have to get that monster some other time!!!
