I have had no luck at all in finding an answer to this question. If anyone has more, please chime in and give us the answer.

[cool]Hey, Bro, that is a nebulous ponderosity. I started it and I have been trying to get some answers myself. Unfortunately, that is one area for which there have been no official records kept...by the IGFA or anyone else, to my knowledge.

I am going to propose to Angler (head dude for BFT) that we start our own little board...within the float tube board...and solicit input from all sources. I will be popping in on all the different club sites and float tube oriented pages and trying to get something going.

Since it will be only a "semi-official" thing...at least for awhile...requirements for inclusion will be relaxed. I will settle for the "honest" submissions from any angler who wishes to be included. I will try to get the standard info: length, girth, weight, water taken from, angler's name, bait or lure, line test and anything else of interest. Might also include type of flotation craft. As the list grows and "verification" becomes more of an issue, we can tighten up to require certified weights and measurements...and witnesses. Of course we want all the pics we can get.

What I can offer at this point is that a sturgeon is likely to be the largest freshwater fish...at least in the US. I understand there have been some monster Nile perch taken in Africa, by some of the British tubaholics.

I know of numerous salmon and stripers over 50 pounds, taken from a floating flimsy, and a couple of lakers from the Yukon and Northwest Territories in that range.

There are nutcases on the Pacific Coast that go down into Baja and fish on the Pacific side for large white seabass and yellowtail. The latter have been known to tow a tuber for miles before being cut off or whipped. I have heard, unofficially, of a giant black seabass of over a hundred pounds beaten from a donut in the "olden days". I landed one about 250, from a boat, on heavy tackle, and I don't think I would want to even become involved with one from a tube.

With the increased use of tubes and toons...and kayaks...there are more and more folks who really enjoy the old hand-to-fin combat you get while up close and personal. I think that establishing a forum for posting and maintaining records for these types of fishing would be a great idea.

I have fished this lake many times. I t is fun to watch the planter ruck pull up on the dam and unload. 10 to 15lb bass have a feast. It is a very clear lake and very small. For bass fisherman there are several lakes that hold large bass in the north county.
