went to strawberry today and not even a bump. Everyone I talked to hadn't caught much. We tried almost everything trying to catch a fish trolling, jigging, spinnin even powerbait and nothin. talked to some fly fisherman and they said the same. Marked alot of them in about 23 feet of water with a temp. of 42. just no hits.

The berry always slows way down about two weeks after ice off and then gets good again in the early summer. Sorry about the skunking, welcome to the forum.

That sucks, we had a slow day last Friday. I was thinking about going tomorrow but maybe not. Where abouts did you fish?

I'll second that. Three of us went up this morning (thursday) and I caught the only fish of the day, a cutt about 20" and 2 others auto-released. We tried throwing Lucky Pointers and spoons, very shallow out to 50', jigged with bait and couldn't even find many fish on sonar. Beautiful day but very slow fishing. It's gonna get better! Actually, my buddy was only fly fishing from my boat, and the other guy was his son who is a newbie to fishing altogether. No excuses for me though! I guess it's somewhat comforting to know we weren't the only ones who didn't do well. Nobody we talked to at the ramp had better stories to tell. Surface temp varied between 44 and 52 around Strawberry Bay, Mud Creek, Knolls, East Portal, etc. We didn't try Haws or the ladders. The boats that were at Haws Point didn't stick around long. The only thing I can figure is the fish are either dispersed, or having a big rendevous someplace we didn't go. DWR was planting a bunch of fish just out from the ramp at Strawberry Bay as we were leaving, but I don't know any details.

i went up there on the 18nth and did excelent, i now swear by the red and white spoons. they were the only thing that worked, i realy cant say anymore, but we were fishing from shore and catching fish only about 9 or 10 feet out i even hooked one 3 feet away from me. i say go there and try the red and white spoons.
