Good day at Willard (21 June)
#1
My wife and I launched at 7:30 and ran to freeway bay. Pulled harnesses all day and were getting "bit" pretty regular.
Ended up fishing 7 1/2 hours. Total for the day was 1 carp [crazy], 1 crappie (11 1/2 inches), one kitty (25 1/2 inches, estimated 5 or 6 #), about 9 wipers (who counts [:p]) and 15 quality eyes [Smile]
Had one eye at 18 inches and the rest were between 19/12 to 27 inches. We did miss about 8 eye bites [crazy]
Our best day on Willard since this spring.
Just enough breeze to keep the Willard air force at bay [laugh] and Nooooo power $**%@>> to speak of.

Perfect day [laugh][laugh][laugh]. We did keep 5 eyes for a good fish fry.

Pics will follow if they turned out on my cell phone - and the wife will load them [:p]

PS... water temps 64 when we left and the bay is at ful pool [cool].

I have got to get out there and figure out how to catch a wiper from my tube. Walleye would be even better, but I have totally lost confidence in myself for ever figuring out how to catch them...

I am headed up there tomorrow morning. Were you bouncing them of the bottom?I was up there last Saturday and had 2 strikes in 6 hours. I hope to do a little better than that.

[#008000]When I read "21 June", my first thought was that it sure seemed like I should have done more fishing this spring. Then before I posted, I had to stop and check my calendar ... just to be sure. [/#008000]

[#008000]I know what you mean, us folks that aren't minnows anymore don't keep track of things like we use to.[/#008000]

Yeah the eye's have turned on compared to a couple of weeks ago.
They also seem to be schooled up rather than scattered. I dropped a marker bouy on the second spot that was producing for us and had 3 boats home in on it.
They kept trolling across the hump with gas kickers and put the fish down [mad].
I should know better than to bouy a spot. Thats what the GPS is for on my boat [crazy]

I picked up a 26 in. fish earlier this spring during the spawn but that 27 in. eye yesterday is my personel best out of Willard for the last 4 or 5 years.

It's great to see the bay full. It was a beutiful day on the water.

If someone does that to me I throw boey's in some great spots for them to fish. Especially if I know some really good areas for snagging up a guys worm harnesses. Wish I would have known you were out there. Maybe would have tried that instead of Yuba. Got smoked there. Good report, good fishing.
