So far my "trick" is to not catch any on purpose for the last 15 years, thereby lulling them into a false sense of security.[sly]
Haven't figured out the next move yet, but it might involve underwater bowfishing with dynamite heads. I've tried everything else....[laugh]

[pirate] Went out today with the Wife, Daughter and Vivid Dawn from layton. Fished from 7am to noon. Wife hooked one Wiper with a finesse jig trolling at 2 mph. Then My daughters pole did not look right and the wife checked it out and there was a nice Walleye on it she got it to the boat and it came un corked. That was on a jig head and a worm going about 2.2 mph. I had a few good bites on a worm and bottom bouncer. Went out again at 7 and got rained off at 8 and when I say rain it rained hard for 10 min. Not a bite that last hour....

2.2 mph gps speed is all of 1 mph too fast for bottom bouncers. I'd troll at .5 mph and try speeds up to about 1.3 mph gps speed and find what works best. Just my 2 pennies. I'd switch to all bottom bouncers with different colored blades on each one. Find what color the eyes like and switch them all over to those colored blades.

A Quick question on bottom bouncing. Do you set the hook, feed them line, or let the pole do the work? I like to here your opinion. Thanks

Depending on time of year. Early I feed it to them. Yesterday we didn't need to. Pretty much let the poles do the work. With that being said I did miss one eye which I should have had. Everyone I talk to thinks I'm nuts for not feeding it to them every time and then sweep setting the hook.

If you feed it to them how long do you wait, and do you just slowly reel up till you feel the fish and sweep it?

When I feed it to them, it's after they have nibbled on the worm harness but not fully taken it. I want to make sure the fish has it in it's mouth before you sweep set it and you can tell that by feel. When you can feel the resistance, not the initial bite, and know it's in the eye's mouth then sweep. If the walleye nibble at the rod and don't hit it where the rod is bending then I will try and pick it out of the rod holder and feed it back to them, there is usually no reeling in unless the fish takes the bait towards the boat. If I'm trolling a lot of the time they will hit it, the pole is bending and comes back pretty much setting the hook by itself. I do give it a hook set just not as major as most people do. I lost a fish yesterday because I didnt set the hook hard enough. There is a lot of guys with a lot of walleye experience on this board. Maybe some of them could offer their opinions as well? It's easier to show then to type.

(It's easier to show then to type) thats the truth lol it is all about feel with feeding line back and it takes practice thats why i like running crank baits or worm harness at a little faster troll I think the quick reaction strike are better because they tend to take the bait deeper and of course you are targeting the more aggressive fish by doing that not to say that you don't miss out on a lot of quality fish in a neutral mood by going to fast for them i have just chosen over the years to concentrate on the fast troll to get reaction bites and more aggressive fish because you don't have to baby them as much and you can cover more water looking for active fish once you locate a school and the fast bite drops off come back threw at a slower troll and try and grind out a few more.

I just sweep it forward. If they don't hook up, drop it back again, and they'll often hit again. Don't set the hook. I once took a fly fisherman to Yuba, and he couldn't help but try to set the hook. He kept jerking it out of their mouths. It was a good day, I caught 25 fish that day to his 10. Slowly sweep it forward.
