Don't be too hard on yourself. Every boater has to do that at least once. I think it's a rule.

I got mine over with about 20 years ago. (Lucerne Marina, Flaming Gorge)

Most all on board chargers are water proof for a certain amount of time. let things dry out for a few days and give it a try,Most of the electronics are dipped in a clear resin to make them water proof.
I mounted mine higher and the water only got to about a foot and the bilge turned on I was not off the trailer yet. It's been along time since I did that but we all do it once. [Wink]

Almost did it Sat after letting the rain water drain out of the boat on the ramp. Because my jack won't lift high enough to drain without help from a block.

I did that a couple years ago at Lindon Boat Harbor. Neat thing was while I was getting things pumped out a couple jetskiers launched & were really making fun of the "dumb old coot" that forgot his plug. When I left the harbor, guess what? Here are the jetskiers trying to keep one of the things afloat. Yup, wiseass had done the same thing.

[#008000]Now that you have gotten that over with, you can join the rest of us in sympathizing with all of the boat owners that will at some point reach that "usually one time" eventual occurance.[/#008000]

I did the same thing one winter at Lucerne. By the time i realized i had no plug, I was up by the pipeline. Had to haul ass to get back to the boat ramp, beach it and put the plug in hanging upside down behind the boat to reach it. The water was about 35 degrees. Once you've done that, you usually remember next time..[cool]

I once saw a boat tie up to the gas dock at FG. The young couple went in to get some stuff while the boat completely sank next to the dock. All you could see was the bow cleat neatly tied to the dock.

Hope your charger is ok.

I've been waiting for a sequel to Dumb and Dumber... Lol.

I've done that maybe three or four times, but funny thing is, you know it when you power up and you wonder why is the boat going slower than usual... and it dawned upon me, when I looked into the drain hole on my floor of my boat and see water sloshing below...

I had to hurry to stop the engine and reach down and screw in the plug. Fired up the bilge pump and get it all out, and was on my way to some honey hole.

I hope to never do it again... but I prolly will. LOL

That is why my bilge pump is in automatic all the time. Wife sees it in the rear view mirror as soon as the pump kicks in.

This is a fun thread...shall we talk about the times we have launched with the trailer tie downs still attached. or disconnected the boat from the trailer, backed down the ramp and launched it on the concrete??? Or the time the brakes failed on the truck and we launched the boat, trailer and truck...[:p][cool]

[#6000bf]Ok here it goes... I bought a bought and took it out for the [/#6000bf][#6000bf]2nd or 3rd trip. I was in a hurry, trying to get things going[/#6000bf][#6000bf]and did the unthinkable. By the time I noticed, I was out[/#6000bf][#6000bf]about 20 feet from shore at bear lake.[/#6000bf]
[#6000bf][/#6000bf]
[#6000bf]I tried to start the boat and it would not START. Fortunately, a guy was there and towed me in. I could have easily been swimming. [/#6000bf]
[#6000bf][/#6000bf]
[#6000bf]After that experience, I never ever rush things..... I laugh[/#6000bf][#6000bf]now, but wasn't at the time.[/#6000bf]

Some of my best times are sitting near a boat launch with a cocktail in my hand and watching all the "mistakes", verbal confrontations and beginnings of divorces....... [pirate][cool] Especially early in the season. And yes, all the boats that are launched that have never had their motors started or batteries checked.

More fun than a greased pig round up!

STEVE

I have always said that you could have a good time with someone if you blindfolded them and had them listen at a boat dock

"Go a little deeper"
"OK straighten her out"
"Pull it out"
"Put it in"
"To Deep"
"A little more"
"Turn the other way"
"No the other way"
"Is that to deep honey"
"DEEPER"
etc
