BaySport on the Bay!
#1
Friday, 06/12/09 - Sunday, 06/14/09 - This desert rat traveled to the San Francisco Bay Area for cool temps and saltwater fishing. What a great time we had drifting live anchovies for stout saltwater stripers, and trolling for the best tablefare of all......halibut! Pictures say it all:

Cortez 22 by Davis Boats. Owned and operated by my nephew and brother-in-law. How lucky am I to have an open invitation to fish this ride?

Drifting the bay. Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz in the background.

Start each morning drifting for stripers, two per angler, 18" min. These fish hit hard and put up a great fight, 8-12lb. fish are typical.

Finish the day trolling the flats for halibut, three per angler, 22" min. Typical size was 6-12lbs.

Sunday's catch!
Five on the boat, a typical day on the bay.
Back on the water on Wednesday, life is good! [cool]

[cool]Great catch! What a way to change up the striper scene. Add in the halibut and you got one hell of a seafood feast.

I hear ya! Sometimes I wonder why I live it the desert. It is going to be tough returning to Lake Mead and the hot temps and small stripers. [crazy]

Awesome! Sounds like a great time. Lingcod is hard to beat in my book.

Rockfish opened on Monday, but with the good halibut bite we did not want to stop stuffing butts into the box. Ended up with seven Wednesday, four anglers on the boat, best about 12lbs.

Good luck on your trip. Look forward to the report!

You gotta try slow trolling a greenback mac behind a bounce ball with a flasher! Those live chovies nail em, but I wanna see you post a 40lber!!! [cool]

Dont forget your stinger hook- you dont wanna get raked.
