Edisto Island
#1
Good afternoon. My wife and I are going to Edisto for the week on Saturday. There are going to be a lot of kids, and I was hoping someone could give me some tips on where to take the kids for some fishing, and what to do. I am going out on a charter wednesday, but I was looking to take the kids for some back water fishing as well. Thanks for your help.

I'm not terribly familiar with Edisto, but i'm sure there is plenty of beach area to surf fish from. That's what I would do. You only need to get your line past the breakers, and the water is perfect for wading out anyhow. Live mudminnows or mullet on a carolina rig will win you Drum, flounder, and maybe trout. Fresh shrimp and sandfleas would be good as well. There might be some pompano hanging around, but I haven't heard any reports of any being caught. They'll be just past the breakers as well, and they love shrimp and sand fleas. Stay up on the size limits if you get into the fish. Black and Red Drum have slot limits, and flounder and trout changes as well. Make sure you can tell the difference between a weakfish and a speckled trout. They look almost identical, however, the size limits are different. When in dought, just use the speckled trout size limit, which is the larger of the two.

Good luck
