Southern Utah Fishing
#1
We are from Las Vegas and looking to beat the heat this summer. We thought about maybe doing some fishing in Utah, but not too far north. Lake Powell is hot like Lake Mead if I'm not mistaken. Any suggestions of places where we could go and fish and not have to do it at a campsight? We would love to be able to drive up to a lake somewhere and camp on our own like we do at Lake Mead. Most places seem to want you to camp at one of their organized campsites. But we just wanted to be kind of alone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you like trout fishing and want to go to a secluded place then I would suggest the boulder mountains.Spectacular scenery, cool weather (well alot cooler than lake powell or lake mead) tons of fish, granted the fish aren't huge but alot. and If you go to the right location you won't see people for days. coming from vegas you problably want to see nice views and the boulder mountains offer that from pine trees to beaver dams to moose and the occasional bear. and only 3 or 4 hour from vegas.

Most Vegas visitors head up to Cedar Mt. Aspen Mirror, Navajo lakes are close and cool. Kolob doesn't have improved camp sites but does have lots of fish and some with good size to them now. Newcastle is unimproved little less scenery but fun to fish trout, wipers, and small mouth bass. Enterprise resevoirs have been stocked with trout again, the lower has smallies and bluegill.
