SNUFFY, Ft. Loudon...the canal, bass, 8-14-08, Mike J
#1
Just a report from the far North....water temp 85+ fished t-rigged plastics, jigs,a little SB &cranks
We put in at 10:30 last nite and decided to try new water...and we did till our last stop. SLOW was the word. 1rst stop a offshore hump and worked it over good for a few bites for Mike on plastics...me NADA. Moved up and hit a hump I had spotted before but hadn`t really checked it out too much. Again Mike got a few bites and I think I missed one. Didn`t seem like they really wanted it for some reason. I finally stuck one on next spot ( just keeper and skinny)...Mike still getting bites but no sticks. Explored a couple more spots and I got a couple more Dinks and Mike got bites...emoBang
Finally he said I wonder what time it is....about 1:00?? I didn`t say it but figured it was at least 2:30 -3:00...He dug out the cell and said 4:40 emoRolleyes
Decided to head back down and hit a few spots just above the dam that usually produce and I managed one more dink and Mike got some more bitesemoBang emoBang
Mike will usually match anybody fish for fish but it just wasn`t his nite.....and he didn`t give up till 6:15. Bite seemed like it was picking up close to daylite but we had had it so we rolled it in.
Couldn`t ask for a better nite ...only saw one boat all nite ...a wakeboat about 11:00....not much humidity, a little breeze at times...just about perfect except for the fish
I`ve noticed a disturbing trend in the fish caught this year here on Loudon. We`ve put approximately 60-70 fish in the the last four trips and a couple 2pounders is about the biggest we`ve had. We came in 2nd in club Tx in early June with 6- 14" fish that weighed 7.02. We`re fishing places where 5-6 pounders have been caught before. with that number of fish you`d think you could dummy into a good fish every so often. I`m wondering now if there is a missing year class somewhere.
Still a good relaxing nite of fishin`....I hate having to mess with that ole` net anyway !
