Duchesne and Strawberry River
#1
Heading up to Duchesne this weekend for some river time.

Has anyone been up there recently? Any tips on hot flies or river conditions?

We will be on both the Duchesne and Strawberry River (below Starvation Dam).

Thanks in advance for any info!

Tried fishing yesterday and it was not a good idea. Unless you like chocolate milk!! Everything in the area got hard rain the other day and washed lots of dirt into the river making it tough. Fishing in tail water like you said your going to try might be the best bet you have. Below starvation and below Soldier creek are the only places that I think might not be effected by the murky water. Hoppers were working last week but I have seen trico hatches on the duchesne but no surface action. Good luck hope this helps and doesnt detour your motivation to come out to this area.

Some of the rivers up there were muddy, so we did stick to the tail waters. It stormed both days intermittently with lots of sunshine in between.

What a great place. Fishing was tough for some, but I seemed to be able to put a few in the net. We were fortunate and landed a couple of fish of nearly 20" and lost a couple that may have been as big or bigger. I caught 8 or 9 fish a day, but they were very fat and healthy and I would say some of the best quality fish that I have seen in a long time.

Definitely MB. Pictures would be the icing on the cake!
Hitting a few rivers while here in Idaho for the week.
BEAUTIFUL STUFF..if I could just get my wiener dog to quit attacking everyone that walks by, I could actually catch a few fish[laugh]

Here ya go!

I didn't take many photos, but here are a few of the fish we caught this weekend.

The last one is of my stepdad. Up until this trip, I would describe him as a fly-fishing rookie. He caught the biggest trip of the weekend, so he is officially no longer a rookie in my book.
