I figured I'd go fling a few casts at the steelies in the Boise River while everybody else was worried about the Bronco/Vandal game. I've had luck in Stanley in the early spring when I run a nymph rig with single egg patterns on my fly rod- will that work on the Boise this early, ya think? or am I better off just fish nymphs tied on stout hooks?

yes it will work they are not hitting the egg to eat it they are hitting it because it pisses them off. it will work year round.

Thanks guys- went tonight and caught a 24 inch buck right off the bat on a little orange bead. Also had a reall big one on for a while on a dropper below (stonefly nymph) but the fish trew the hook on the 3rd tailwalk. pretty awesome. I'll post a pick of the little one on the Boise river steelhead thread-

I hit the run just below Barber Park bridge. Pretty congested, but most people were really nice.
