[cool][#0000ff]Sorry I missed your post last night. But, I am up early to go fishing this morning so I hope you see this before you go. I was planning on hitting Pineview too, but changed my mind. I'll be hitting the north marina at Willard.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]In addition to the trips I have made I have had reports from a couple of other guys within the past week or so. Here are a few thoughts.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]1. The fish keep moving deeper and more toward the dam as the water gets colder. But, there are still plenty of fish "outside" of the new line of buoys that restricts access to much of the previous good fall fishing areas.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]2. Some of the best fishing is right along the bouy line, straight out from the north shore. If there is a breeze you can find the fish on sonar and then either tie off your boat or let it drift up against the buoy line, depending on the wind direction.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]3. My best fishing on my last two trips has been in the shaded areas along the south bank, across from the steep path down from the road near the caretakers facilities. Fish from the buoy line up to the point that comes out with a single large pine tree. Find the depth the fish are holding and just move along that depth line. Last week it was 45 to 50 feet. Might be deeper this week. It goes up to about 65' deep in the middle.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]4. The most active fish are right on the bottom. Drop at least a 1/8 to 1/4 oz. jig to the bottom, bounce it a couple of times, raise it a few inches off the bottom and wait for the LIGHT bite. Sometimes just a "rubber band" feel. The light "rattle rattle" bites are usually dink perch.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]5. Tip your jigs with perch meat, waxies, meal worms or crawlers. If you don't have perch meat fish with crawlers until you bring in a couple of dink perch. Then you are set.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]6. Jigs with chartreuse or fire tiger have been working best for me. But others use white plastic or silver spoons...like small Kastmasters or Swedish Pimples. Don't jig too vigorously. Crappies like it a bit slower.[/#0000ff] [#0000ff][/#0000ff] [#0000ff]Good luck[/#0000ff] [signature] |
