Fishing in Boise area??
#1
I will be on a business trip to Boise the 6-9th of december. I will have the evenings and early mornings to fish and will be staying at Hotel 43(??) downtown. I can drive up to 10 miles from there to fish. Anybody have any suggestions? I know how to catch steelies(i think i do anyway) and pretty much everything else. I know they are planting them in the Boise river but i am not sure where or where it runs. Any help would be much appreciated.[cool]

You'll be within walking distance of the Boise River. So I would just work that for Steelies. Glennwood, Americana, Broadway and Barber are the most fished areas and are well under 10 miles. There use to be great hole just down the street from the hotel where 9th crosses the river. Haven't been there in 20 yrs so not sure if it's still there. Stop in at Turners (state st) and they will fill you in on what and where.

If you want to catch a lot of fish in the Boise River, target whitefish with nymphs. They school up this time of year and tend to hang out in the obvious places. You can get plenty of solitude and likely catch a trout or two as well. Standing behind a fish & game truck with 20 other guys waiting to catch a stunned hatchery steelhead is not my cup of tea but that is also an option.

Where are you visting from?

I lived in ID for 7 years prior to 1995 and kinda know the area but boise is not a place i frequented. More Twin Falls and Hagerman. That sounds like a great option on the whitefish. I don't think i want to spend the cash on a steelhead permit again for this season.
