Spring is what 19 months away now. I plowed my snow with my tractor today. I shoveled snow until I could not hold on to the shovel. And now it is snowing again. I worked on a rod holder for my Daughter Katie for a while today, well until she opened the refrigerator in the garage. I said WHAT IS THAT SMELL!!!!
After some looking I found that my worms I had in there crossed the rainbow bridge, Like a couple of weeks ago. At least they are done with winter. Maybe I will have Jacob pull me down the street on my pontoon behind the 4 wheeler in a foot of snow. Question is which rod do I take? The ultralight, the med action? 7 foot or 6 foot? What kind of leader?
Man I need to go do something. Ron

Yes if you are thinking of having a liittle pontoon skiing session, then you are in need of something. Now lets see what is out there? Fishing in the cabelas aquarium or starting a snowball fight with the neighbor? Which one will keep you out of jail should be gthe answer.[:p] Keep your chin up, winter only lasts so long.[cool]

[cool][#0000ff]I feel your pain (chill). We are "downstream" from ya and we get all the leftovers. There have been plenty this winter. Very white and very cold. Definitely puts a cramp in the tubing and tooning hereabouts.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]STREET TROLLING: If snow trolling for dogs or cats, use at least a medium weight rod with at least 10 pound line and a loose drag. They pounce hard and can run fast. Rig one rod with a squeeky bone and the other with a catnip mouse. Always practice C & R and give your catch a tummy rub or a scratch behind the ear as you release them. That will encourage them to play again.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]If human prey is your target, you may need to use heavier tackle...especially if trolling near WalMart. There are some big mamas to be caught in WalMart parking lots. They can be dangerous if you bring them too close to your craft before they are played out. Sometimes better to cut them loose and boogie before they catch YOU. Best lures are "greenback wigglers". Denominations of $5 or larger will usually get a fast response. Larger bills will get even more action. If the fishing is fast and you have to "long line release" very many bigguns it can get expensive. Definitely not a sport for a man with a tight budget. But certainly a lot of fun.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Good luck and be safe. [/#0000ff]

Heck. don't need to goto Walmart todo any of this fishing. All I gotta do is flash a little green at mamatrout and the chase is on.[cool] Now the cat and dog fishin is fun, done that from the back porch before.

I don't know how far from the Twin Falls area you live, but there might be some open "toon" water in that area. I don't know how really true it is, but I was told that the springs keep a number of places ice free in that area. I think that one was Clear Lake. The owners of Clear Lake have a $10 use fee.
Does anyone have any "sure" info on these waters? I am thinking of making an early spring run and check out the area myself. I have been in that area in the summer, but not in the winter.

Actually the river from Twin Falls down to Bliss Bridge is all open water. Problem is most of that area is not worth fishing. Clear lake is officially owned by the company I work for. BUT! We don't get any free fishing because the Country club is operating it. I would not fish there anyway. Pelicans have ruined that lake. The Country club brought in Swans to drive out the pelicans but it didn't really work. 20 years ago Clear Lake was AWSOME!! Now it is not much of a place in my book. I could be talked into a trip from Lower Salmon A to Bell Rapids boat dock. That has some potential, not much but some. Ron

Bummer! I had high hopes of a place to float early on. Do you know anything about Riley Creek and V. Fisher Pond? Thanks for the info.
