Has anybody had success catching Kokanees through the ice on Causey? I want to go try for them and just would appreciate a few tips. I know they are there cause last year they were swimming all over by my camera but they didn't seem to want anything I put down there.

I know two guys that can catch the kokes up there. One is banned from this site for good as of this week and the other apparently gave up fishing [crazy].
I wish I could help you, but I looking for answers myself.

Kastmaster or a similar bait with hook removed and an 8 to 10 inch dropper line attatched with a hot pink rat finkee tipped with a waxie. I usually caught mine on the far East end of the lake. I don't care to fish it much as you can only keep 4.

From my Causey experiences you just have to be lucky enough to have a school come through and if you are this lucky then they'll hit just about anything that's in the hole.

Why remove the hook on the Kastmaster?? Is it illegal to have multiple lure with hooks?

No its not illegal. sometimes when jigging with a hook on the attractor it will get your line in a mess. I personally like to leave the hook on and tie my line directly to the hook and put a wax worm on the attractor as well. I have caught fish on the attractor many times that way

My best success for kokes through the ice is just a single 3/4" glow tube jig in white or natural glow scented with carp spit made by pro-cure. Or, a small curlys lure in orange tiger with the same carp spit scent. Just find the depth they are holding and do quick 3" pop jerks. The kokanee are always moving so be patient.
