Diamond Fork
#1
Just joined BFT today... I'm thinking about driving down to Diamond Fork by Spanish Fork, but I'm not sure if the road by the river is accessible. I don't want to make the trip for nothing and DWR doesn't post anything. I would appreciate any info that you could give me.

You'll be fine to go up there. I live at the mouth of Spanish Fork canyon and frequent Diamond Fork. The gate is closed every year during the winter i'd say five or six miles up there, but you'll have plenty of river access from the road. But if it snows (which it looks like it will all week), access up there might be more difficult. I'm not sure how diligent they are at clearing the roads up there after a storm. I hope this helps.

I guess I should have told you how our fishing trip was when we went there a few weeks ago. There were three of us and only one small brown was caught. It was tough fishing because of the ice chunks floating down the river, not to mention access to the good holes were hard to get to. But there was only about one foot of snow so trapsing along wasn't very difficult. We mostly used traditional spinners and even tried some rubber minnow type jigs but the fish that was caught was on a spinner.

As Hath answered you can usually get in upto the gate at 3 Forks except right after snow storms. Above that doesn't usually open until late April. I haven't had the best luck at Diamond Fork during the coldest months. Thistle Creek not too far away tends to fish better until about April or May. Fish are a bit smaller but catching a lot faster. If you get out let us know how you do.
