Cutler Dam and Newton Res.
#1
I have never ice fished Cutler Dam nor Newton Res. I am hoping to catch pan fish. I would appreciate any information regarding current ice conditions, general areas of the lake(s) to go to find fish, in general, any info would be appreciated.

I rarely read posts regarding these lakes.

Thanks!

From what I understand, Cutler has some rather sketchy ice conditions because it has a fair amount of current. Maybe with how cold it's been this winter you'd be okay, but that's just what I've heard. Newton should have plenty of ice, it's been ridiculously cold up here. As for location, I don't ice fish, but the deepest water is of course down by the dam. There are some pretty good main lake points down in that area too that might hold some crappie and perch.

Just stay off Cutler's ice and look towards Newton.

Two weeks ago Newton had 6" to 8" of slush. Worst I've seen this winter.

After today's warm weather I'll bet that slush has gotten a lot worse. That's fine with me though, bring on the open water.

Thank you for the information. Saved me a trip to Cutler; I'll have to investigate Newton's conditions.
