Help finding info

im looking to go back to school to for DWR related work.. fish and wildlife stuff, im having a hard time finding exactly what i need to study and go back to school for. does anyone on here do this for work? or have family? or simply know anywhere i can find the correct information. any help is greatly appreciated!!

for real! we have a family friend that got his degree in forestry managment, then went back to get one in forestry biology. he eneded up working for the NPS at rocky mountain national park, then decided to open his own log home buisness with the experiance he had it went/is still going queit well for him. i see ads for help down at powell (Glen Canyon NRA) all the time for biologists and CO's.

My brother is a protection ranger (law enforcement) for the National Park Service. His degree is in Recreation Administration with a focus in Parks and Natural Resources Management. He had to go to a seasonal ranger academy to get seasonal work in the NPS. Then he attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in order to get his permanent position with the NPS. Now that he has attended FLETC, he could lateral to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service or other federal law enforcement agency. Individual states all have different requirements for there CO's. Bachelor's Degrees like Biology, Recreation Admin, Criminal Justice, etc. are often required. Some states might accept an AA degree however.

I think USU still is the only school in the State where you can obtain a bachelors degree in natural resources. You can contact the college of natural resources at Utah State University in Logan to get the info you need. You should be able to most the info online. To become a (CO) conservation officer, you have to obtain a bachelors degree first. After the degree you have to attend the officer training. That is the way it used to be done, it could have changed since I attended USU. Good luck! I hope that helps a little.
