Utah lake Fish forum meeting. 3-10-10
#1
I recently had this come through and wanted to let you all know about this. I will bump this when it gets closer.

Utah Lake Fish Forum
March 10, 2010. 6:00 P.M.
Utah Division of Wildlife Resources
Conference Building
1115 North Main Street
Springville, UT 84663

Draft Agenda

I. Welcome and introductions, 6:00-6:15

II. Utah Lake Tributary Regulations: There seems to be a renewed
interest in discussing the current and historic factors relating to
tributary regulations. Representatives from the Utah Division of
Wildlife Resources Law Enforcement and Sportfish sections will be in
attendance to facilitate the discussion. If an angling organization
wishes to provide a presentation please contact me prior to February 28
and I’ll add you to the agenda.

UDWR Presentation Concerning the following, 6:15-6:50
● History of tributary regulations
● Current tributary regulations
● Management concerns and future guidance

Public Comments and Questions, 6:50-7:20

III. Utah Lake Access: Last year the Forum created an access priority
list to improve sportsmen’s access around the lake. UDWR and its
partners have recently submitted two funding proposals to address those
needs. A quick overview of each will be provided.
● Utah Lake Access Pamphlet, 7:20-7:30
● Lincoln Point West Side Acquisition, 7:30-7:40
● Spring Creek/Mill Race Road Maintenance, 7:40-7:50

Public Comments and Questions, 7:50-8:00

IV. Issues for Future Meetings: There has been some interest in a
further discussion regarding Carp Removal by-catch. If you are
interested in this topic and have questions please start sending them to
me. If there’s enough interest I will invite relevant individuals to
attend a future meeting.

For more information please contact Chris Crockett, (801) 491-5655,

Sorry for the ignorant question.

Has the DWR come to a solution on large scale carp removal on Utah Lake?

Sorry I haven't followed the issue closely.

But I had a thought this morning while on the throne. (where I do my best thinkin)[:p]

Maybe the DWR could buy or commercial catch the carp themselves. Process them into fish meal and use it to supply Utah's hatchery's. And sell the surplus on the market. Or even offer the contract for meal to a enterprise so long as it sourced from Utah Lake.

I don't know if this has been suggested. Just a thought.

I got this addendum from the DWR yesterday.

"Hello all, I just wanted to remind you about the next Utah Lake Fish Forum Meeting on March 10th. Chad Bettridge (DWR Conservation Officer) will give us a brief history of regulations on Utah Lake tributaries and we'll also have updates on improving public access to Utah Lake."

I hope to see many of you there on Wednesday.

I'm planning on being there, it should be a good one. I'm interested in hearing law enforcement's perspective on the trib closures. The easiest way to get here is Exit#261 (1st Springville exit with Flying J and Maverick) and head east. At the light for Main St/89 (Joe Bandido's on NW corner and Chevron/McDonalds on NE corner) take a right. We are the third driveway on the right (across from Dominos). The meeting will be held in our CRCC building (third building to your right heading north) and you can park anywhere.

If you happen to catch any walleye with a yellow "floy" tag near their dorsal fin be sure to give me a call. We've only tagged 235 thus far so I'd be surprised if any have been caught, but you never know!

It was a fun meeting, thanks for the ride share Pat.

I will leave the posting of info up to your artistic style of posting ( you are muchh more of an artist than I am) . I would encourage all of you who weren't able to come tonight to come to the next one in a few months. They are fun and you can see all points of view on things that affect our Utah Lake,
