Anyone tried this lure? are they worth $5.00. It looks like it'd work for steelhead.
What do you guys (and gals) think? Sportsman and Cabels don't have them in stock.

I have used them for Silvers and Kings in AK but never for Steelhead. They worked just fine for salmon and I'd imagine they'd work for a Steelhead under the right conditions.

they work well on salmon. we used the n last uear on the salmon river and they out fished anything we tried 10 to 1

They are all I used last year for chinook on the salmon river and I outfished all those around me every day. Buy them now as they will be out by the time chinook gets hot.

I tried a pink one last week for steelhead and it didn't produce. I gave it a pretty good workout until I lost it. I know they were using chartreuse ones during the salmon season last summer and wacking them.

Anyone care to recommend which of the three sizes would be best for Salmon River Chinooks from the shore?
I suspect it would depend a lot on the flow in a particular run but 7/8oz seems like a fairly big lure to throw...
I can usually chuck a 3/8oz or 5/8oz out far enough.

7/8 chartreuse was the ticket. Yes big but that was the best size for me to get down deep to the strike zone and still have it spin deep in the moving water. The others, in my opinion, are too light to get down where you need to be.

I would think the chartreuse would work great for bass. I used a small Mepps spinner with a 2" forked pork strip, chartreuse on one side and white on the other, back in the early 70's for bass before I moved on to more sophisticated lures. Caught a lot of small bass on them. Of course, most of the bass were small back in the early 70's.[laugh]
I've got to get some of these to try on bass, that size should work great for some bigger bass.

Thanks Bone14. I'll try a few 7/8oz and maybe a couple of smaller ones. As with Steelhead, the spinners usually have to be deep and slow to result in a strike...
