I got to go fishing WHOO HOOO
#1
Well this is the first weekend in a long time that the weather didn’t totally stink. I went to Brownlee Friday morning and after about a 5-hour drive I was almost too tired to fish. I said ALMOST! I hit the 52 degree water at 7:00 am and didn’t get my first fish until 9:00 am. After that I had two hours of heaven on earth catfishing. The first one was a 26” flat head that weighed 7 pounds. The next fish was a 28” 11 pound channel. I was about to hyperventilate and fall out of my tube. After that I got several more between 5 and 8 pounds one was a really cool blue colored channel cat. About 11:30 I was getting tired and the fishing was getting slow so I headed in and took a nap. I headed over to another lake Called Crane Creek Res. I have read some good things about it but I had never been there. I fished from 4:00 to 8:00 pm water temp was 54 away from the bank 56 to 58 at the bank. I saw a lot of fish on the sonar at about 12 to 14 feet deep but only got one little crappie. I am going to have to try that one again when it gets a little warmer. Saturday I started back out at Brownlee. The wind came up as soon as I got in the tube at 7:00 am. And it only got worse as time went by. About 9:00 or 9:30 I was enduring 12” to 18” white caps and I never got a bite. In fact Friday I saw tons of fish on sonar but almost nothing on Saturday. I pulled out and called it a weekend and went and visited my Aunt for Mothers day. The wind in Weiser was almost nothing, just my luck.
In all not a bad weekend, but I wish I would have stayed at Brownlee on Friday instead of prospecting for crappie. Ron

Nice fish! Were you using cut bait?

One more week and I'll be on vacation for a couple of weeks. If the weather finally cooperates, I'll be hitting the lakes as often as possible.

[#0000ff]One good trip makes up for several not so good trips. Also makes it easier to suffer through the times when you can't get out.[/#0000ff]
