Been fishing the rocky shoreline on the Gov't Wash side of the Vegas Wash this last month except for this morning I fished the morning over on the Rocky Point side. Some campers had beat me to the spot I usually fish plus it gets crowded over there on the weekends. Started at 8 am caught a small striper on bait. Tried using some lures but nothing. I saw the campers had left my spot on the side so I headed over there to finish the day. I started off getting some light tugs with no takers. As I was watching a Park Ranger talking to some guys in a boat out in front of me I got a nice bite from a good sized striper on a sardine. And that was it for the day. I know it was supposed to get windy this afternoon But, that wind came out of nowhere. It went from a slight breeze to 25 mph in 2 minutes.

Last Thurs. went out an hour before sunset and fished til 10:30 everything was going wrong that night my light went dead and I left small headlamp in the truck so I was trying to fish by moonlight. Once the moon cleared the clouds and I see pretty good I started packing my stuff up but, left my 2 poles in the water while I did it. Just as I had everything packed up one of my poles had a fish on once I got over there he was gone so I reeled it in then grabbed the other one to reel in. I pulled the slack out of the line and wham I got nailed by a big striper. It was the biggest striper I've caught since I started fishing Lake Mead. It was no 20lber but ended up being 24in. big for me. One bite turned the whole night around. Sure seemed bigger in the moonlight. I think my camera is broke instead of adding weight it makes all my fish look smaller than I remember.

Went back the next day and caught another nice one around 3 30pm. Not as big as the night before but, good for the size I'm used to out of Vegas Wash.

I was feeling bad about keeping the one from the night before even though it was only 5 or 6 lbs so I thrw this one back. Which got me wondering how big do they have to be when you start throwing them back.
When to the same spot again this last Thursday. Started at about 6 30pm. I was getting bites as soon as my bait hit the bottom. All the fish I was catching were barely 12 inches if that so I started throwing a rapala and caught 4 decent sized stripers nothing remotely big. I caught 21 fish 17 of which were 12 in. or less and the other 4 were on the smaller side of average. I didn't throw them but, what do you do with a bunch of 10 inch striper.
All fish were caught on sardines except for th 4 caught on a rapala.
