Hey Guys,
Just got back from an Awesome day at Utah Lake. The cats are a bit slow, but the white bass are attacking every shoreline. They will hit anything and I never found a lure they wouldn't hit. Awesome place to take kids with a worm 3' under a bobber on a small fly or jig...any color work fine. Pelican Point Harbor has almost no pressure, and we hit a few different places with the same results....tons of white bass. We took about 50 home for the pan, and just got em all cleaned....wow, that was a lot of work, but worth it.
Go get em guys,
Shawn M

I thought that you couldn't access Saratoga unless you know someone there? Are there other access points? If you wouldn't mind sharing that would be fantastic. Thanks for the report!

I was talking about the Pelican boat harbor. I dont know anyone in the Private Saratoga side....Sorry for the confusion, we have always called it different..... but you are right about it being off limits...I have never been there tho.
The Pelican is located right off redwood road and there is a sign. The Whities should be in about every harbor, but people are swarming Americaan fork and the rivers...Am Fk, and Provo...no room at all.
I would go to other places like saratoga, Pelican and Lincon beach where there is more space and just as many fish.
Shawn M
PS> Most of the fish we caught were in places with no people. There are somany people fighting for one fish in some areas it is scarey. If you walk away from the crowds and use the same tactics there should be just as many fish and not as many tangled lines.
Good luck!!

[cool][#0000ff]Nice work. I guess the fish finally got tired of waiting for you to show up.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Are you referring to the public harbor at Pelican Bay? Calling it Saratoga confuses folks who are thinking of the private harbor.[/#0000ff]

Yup, all of our skunked trips are finally behind us. I forgot just how fun those little guys can be....fun fighters!
We went to the what I have always called the Public Saratoga Springs Boat Harbor...Guess it is Pelican....but reguardless of names...it had fish. I want to try that Pelican Point , but havent yet from the boat. I bet there would also be less people around...have to give it a try next time out.
Here is where we went: 40.290673,-111.869949 just put it in google maps. I thought the Private one was just a little north of this point...no ( there are 2 more harbors going north)?

You were fishing the [#000000]harbor[/#000000] that TubeDude is calling [#0000ff]"the public harbor at Pelican Bay"[/#0000ff][#000000]. It gets confusing because the city of Saratoga Springs purchased this private harbor a few years ago. At the moment I can't recall the official name of that harbor.[/#000000]

Tha private harbor at Saratoga Springs is north of where you were fishing next to the place marked "Saratoga Springs" on the Google Map.

Thanks. I thought that something was going on with the name. I have always just said saratoga private and saratoga public, but Pelican Point Harbor sounds good too.

[cool][#0000ff]Had some good reports from the Knolls too. As soon as the water temps went over about 60 degrees the whities crashed the shoreline.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Also seeing some carp clumps near shore. Just about ready for some perforating on those buglemouths.[/#0000ff]

The public marina that you are talking about is called Pelican Bay Marina. I understood what you meant. It is run by the city of Saratoga Springs.
Did you see people launching boats? The ramp was closed for a couple of weeks in April. Just wondering if it is open yet.

[cool][#0000ff]Yes, it is open. I swung by there on a drive by a couple of days ago.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]The young man in the booth at the entrance informed me that it is still free access to anybody without a boat trailer. Float tubes, toons and bank tanglers all fish free. As he put it, "If you wanted to bring in a 25' cartop boat there would be no launch fee. Only if you have a trailer."[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Strap Ivan up on the roof with the boat and he could hold it. Might get interesting at freeway speeds, but he is a big strong dude and he could handle it.[/#0000ff]

You need to purchase my Porta-a-bote, it would go well with your new battery.[ ]

I am sure he would love that. He was very useful haloding all of the poles as we went from harbor to harbor. We had to hold some of the larger ones outside....too long to fit inside. He is a good kid and a great help....he caught more than I did yesterday and We should be out tomorrow as well. I think we have enought fish for a while and will most likely C and R. I look forward to hitting the lake with ya soon Pat.....once all of the early season hype dies down.
