That's a desert down there[Wink], why do you want fish. There's the Colorado River, Ken's Lake, La Sal Mtns and Mill Creek all close by. Couple reservoirs further south by Blanding and Monticello as well.

As far as very close to town, there's only the river. As far as I know the only fishing along that stretch is for catfish.

Last summer I was on the Colorado above Moab on a scout trip, threw out stinky stuff on a treble hook at night and couldn't keep em off.

Got in to Moab Thursday afternoon (5-20-10) barely.

here is the basic idea of what went down, about 40 miles out of town we got a real bad smell through the car, like cat pee and skunk juice that had sat in the sun for a month in death valley, although it was only for about 10 to 15 seconds. I thought one of the kids threw up. pulled into SlickRock camp ground to hear a "grinding rumble" from the front of the jeep. [shocked] turns out the A/C compressor threw the bearing and the stink was all the freon blasting trough the car. that stuff stinks. [frown][:/] needless to say thurs afternoon was spent looking for mechanics and parts. nothing new available in Moab so we went the used route off a Durango to my Jeep. so the Jeep went in the shop friday at 9am to get worked on was out by 4pm. thank god the pulley did not freeze and break the belt so the car stopped all together. a big shout out to Joe West Auto down there, joe is a helluva mechanic that really knew his stuff and was able to fab a mount for the longer body pump off the dodge to fit my jeep, they are both Chryslers right? [Wink]

so friday we go on a hike close to town in the canyon up towards the winery on a trail named (dont blame me fo this) Negro Bill which leads to morning Glory Arch. about 200 yards into the hike, I stubb my toe on a rock through my river sandals and break my middle toe. [pirate] ouch. saturday and sunday were pretty normal except for the 100 mile an hour winds on Sat sand blasting us in Arches ntl park. we went back Sunday am before we drove home at 1pm. the kids had a blast and my wallet was the hardest hit, i have a little hitch in my get along now...oh well. we went to have an adventure, and we had one. we all lived, and there was surprisingly little blood shed. thanks for reading. tight lines.

I warned you that was desert and you shouldn't plan on fishing too much. Hard to believe they didn't have the part for a Jeep in Moab. Jeeps are great off road but but you need to get trailer to drag it to Moab next time. They suck on highways and rough dirt roads (occupants are turned into bobbleheads). Like you said it's a Chrysler after all. Seriously glad you had an adventure with only some minor bumps to show for it.
