Utah Lake Bowhunt & Poachers?
#1
I hit Utah Lake-Knolls - saturday and was blown off the lake. Monday returned and shot me 1st Carp. There were bowls of carp, at least 3-6 carp per bowl. Literally hundreds. I lost my arrow early on when I shot at my 3rd carp. It would've been hard to miss but I didn't tie the arrow on good enough.
Got 4 respectable cats for the table. Cooked em up. They were OK but I cook them mushy for some reason. Gotta refined my cooking skills, possibly get TubeDudes recipe that I saved.
On the way back I ran across some "non-Americans" (now Ie side is supposed to be anchored. 'll wait for the flackback) who were fishing with a trot line and had a bunch of hooks on it. One side was tied to a quart float. On Ten bucks says that they didn't have a license. They were using a green boat - see pic. I didn't have a poach number so I posted this pic. You can bet that they'll be there again.

Anyway, I shot this carp about 3 feet away. One even jumped fully out of the water between my legs. Next time I'm going to get a fish spear. I tried it saturday with a frog spear but the tines were too thin and the carp bent them. Still trying to get at least a 5 lb cat out of there.

What leads you to believe that they were not properly licensed? Was it because they were "non-Americans" or some other reason?
Just wondering.

How do you know they were "non-Americans"? Just because they had a different skin color then you? Or because they spoke a different language?

[cool][#0000ff]You knew you were gonna get flack on even SUGGESTING a race issue. Too bad. Everybody is TOO sensitive on an issue that is REAL at the Knolls. I am not a racist but I recognize that white anglo Americans are a definite monority at the Knolls...and anywhere else there is free access with little supervision from rangers or DNR officers. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Your choice of words might be a problem. But actual "citizenry" is not the issue. If the law breakers were not speaking English and were breaking the laws it is not out of line to assume that they are not native born USA citizens and that MAYBE they are violating other laws as well...like not bothering to buy licenses for everybody. DWR officers usually find that the two go together.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Still, it is not good to racially profile or to assume bad things "just because". However, as I stated, being white and speaking English usually makes me a minority at the Knolls. And, I speak fairly good Spanish and know all the good words. I hear what the "other guys" are saying about me and their comments are decidedly racist. There are a lot of unkind and vulgar words they use before the word GRINGO when they do not think I understand. So who is the racist?[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]On my last trip down there, on a weekend, there were probably 50 or more vehicles full of recreating anglers, swimmers, campers and trash distributors. Besides myself there was only one other vehicle...with a bunch of redneck wheeler maniacs...that had people with light skin. And the yells, screams and music were all in a non-English language. That is not racist. That is reality.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]...WHERE SELDOM IS HEARD...AN ENGLISH WORD...AND THE SHORES ARE TRASHY ALL DAY.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Those of us who float tube the Knolls are constantly aggravated by those who violate the posted signs and trespass along the shores of the lake toward the point. There are almost always groups of trespassers who cut the fence or go through it to use their tin can spinning reels or toss out illegal trot lines along that shoreline. And on more than one occasion they throw rocks at any tuber or tooner who they feel is getting too close to their honey hole...along with some colorful language...non English.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]These people litter the shoreline with garbage and leave miles of monofilament line strung out from shore. It is impossible to cast a lure or bait within 100 feet of that shoreline without getting snagged on it...or getting your legs tangled in it if you are fishing shallow.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Not being racist. Just indignant that it is politically incorrect to object to lawbreakers messing up my fishing. I would be just as upset if the violaters were anglo...or green...or whatever. But, they are not.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Now...about the catfish. You need to cook them longer. Catfish are denser in flesh and take longer to cook out the excess moisture.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Send me a PM and I will get you the recipe for Kitty Krispies.[/#0000ff]

When you fillet catfish that size or bigger, they will have a red line on the sides touching the skin. You have to remove that or it gets real mushy and dark brown. I lay the fillets flat(skin side down) on the edge of a cutting board and cut the whole bottom of the fillet off. Then flip it over and remove any of the red meat that is left. That will help with a lot of the mushiness.

Just for you info about "racist" - I am Mexican - not "hispanic" but Mexican. I purposely left that out to see what comments I get. My mom came from Mexico. I don't get the political crap to lessen my race or put a different light on it. I have scores of relatives aoround Matamoras Mexico and the southern tip of Texas, Dallas, San Antonio. Yes, I did hear them speak. I just speculated about the license bit so I gave a disclaimer, after all, they were already breaking the law being in the no-trespassing area.

My brother in law and I both ran into their lines. Thats just a part of fishing.

Also, I don't care who they are, if someone is breaking the law, they should get a ticket, after all, I got 2 so far. HA!HA! One was fishing with a set line without a license. I deserved it.

[#0000ff]Long time reader, time to write.

You are so full of hot air you don't need a pump to blow up your tube. YOU ARE A RACIST, you are just not man enough to admit it, so you use your twisted augments to deny it. You are not fooling anyone on this forum, and if you think you are you are a bigger fool then your reports make you out to be.

...WHERE SELDOM IS HEARD...AN ENGLISH WORD...AND THE SHORES ARE TRASHY ALL DAY.
TUBEDUDE IS THERE THROWING TRASH EVERYWHERE.....SO HE CAN JUSTIFY HIS RACIST RANT.

Marathonman, I appreciate you! You and TD are both dead right! I wish more people would get more incensed and create enough of a stir with the DWR they would have to enforce the law. Unfortunately that is what our country is becoming with the flood of illegal immigration. The laws are only selectively enforced it's way too much hassle with all the issues that would come to the surface for the DWR to enforce the law with the biggest violators. Especially when it's out of site (mostly) and not one of the "desireable" fisheries. Imagine the outcry if that group were setup on the shores of Strawberry! Hmmm, I bet there'd be some action then.

I don't care what nationally you are; you made some racists remarks in your posts. Americans break the law too, but you hardly hear "I saw some white Americans fishing illegally."

What supprises me the most is that some on this fourm think they are free to makes these racists remarks and not have other posters point out that the remark are racist.

Lets's get this out of the way! First off I'm asian not white or mexican, green, purple, or pink.

Tubedude calls it how he sees it and I completely agree with him. It is not racist or considered racist if you see or experience something that is going on by a particular group of people. Asian get crap all the time on post and for the most part I agree with them even though I'ma full blooded Asia. Just like in every culture there are good people and bad people in every race. If there were tons of white trash people leaving garbage and littering and I used the term those dang "WHITE trash PEOPLE" or "Rednecks". Would any of you even really car?

People are under the impression that it's only racist if a white person says something and it's not. All of you have stereotypes I don't care what race you are. Whites have stereotypes about Asians and Spanish, Asians stereotype whites and Mexicans, Mexicans stereotype white and Asians.

So what is the difference? Everyone subconsciousnessly have sterotypes in their heads it's proven in a field called psychology.

The only thing I do is call it how I see it no better proof then being an eyewitness. If Asians are doing 90 percent of the crimes then go after the asians if it whites go after the whites no sense in spending tax dollars on going after the wrong people. I've been pulled over multiple times for being Asian and you know what I didn't care because if the asians are over harvesting then I expect them to pull me over

Oh come on guys. Everyone is a little racist. Now let's all go fishing and have a huge fish fry!

And there is a lot of garbage at the knolls! I went there one time and there was a white family eating little ceasars pizza and drinking beer. They were white but could have been canadian or french although they didn't have an accent. They left a little later but the pizza box and beer cans were still there. Kind of upsetting but it happens from everyone, not just non english speakers. I usually pick up liter like the occasional bottle, power bait lids, worm containers, but that place is a land fill!

I called someone a non-american. My neighbor is from France, he's a non-american. My other friend and neighbor is from Brazil, he's a non-american. I have a japanese couple that are also good friends and neighbors, they are non-americans. My mom was a non-american and she passed the citizenships test and became an american.

So your saying if a person indicates that someone "is a non-american" that means their racist?

Lighten up man! Ge a life! You've listened to too many sensitivity trainings and your over the edge - quick to jump on someone.
