I went to jordanelle yesterday for the first time. i wasn't sure where to fish, so i ask the ranger at the gate. she told us to try along the southwest side. she was right, launched our little aluminum boat at the watercraft ramp caught my first smallmouth within 150 yrds. trolling a small pearch diver it was 12 1/2"we kept trolling towards the dam staying in about 30' of water seeing lots of fish on the finder. when we were almost to the dam bouy, my brother in law (he was using a tripple teaser)hooked a nice fish. he thought it was a nice trout but it was an 7lb 4oz smallmouth. we drifted back towards the dock we stopped over several brush piles catching lots of pearch two were over 11". is yhis the best area or should we try somewhere on the lake.

Wow, that fish was only 2 oz short of the state record, did you measure it before you released it? It might have been a catch and release record. That is the third smallmouth I've heard of this year that is 7 lbs or bigger. I sure wish they would change the rules so one over 20 inches could be keep. WH2
