I am new to the LV area and I have been to mead about a dozen times, havent got anything yet but i also dont have a boat. Been out to the 33 hole and some other areas with no luck. I am thinking of going out to the WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA this coming weekend. I hear the bass out there are good. Question, is camping allowed out there? Is it an area where i can set up a tent or would i need a 5th wheel or something to that nature? Help me out. Thank you

There are two bait shops in town that I know of, Sandy Cove on Lake Mead Blvd and Nellis and Laker Plaza (I think) on Lake Mead Pkwy right as you leave town. Laker Plaza sells AC Plugs but if I remember the originals were a bit spendier than I remember them being online, could be wrong.

I hate to say it but walmart for anchovies/worms and minor tackle needs. All lures, line, rod, reel etc online at cabelas. All sinkers and jigheads I pour my self with the do-it molds.

I was kind of surprised by the lack of (quality) bait shops in Vegas, I would have thought there would be more with Lake Mead being the fishery it is. I mean there are more bait shops in the small town of 25000 that I came from. Maybe its because of Bass Pro?

Well they offer some good stuff but not for me. They have live bait so if u wanna pick up some minnow they have them and night crawlers. Think they said minow run for about $5 for large and a dollar less for small ones but bring your own bucket. 5'' for the lager minow. They have spoons a ton of swim bait you can even get individual swim baits for like 50 cents they got some used rods but didn't look at the pricing. they even have some marine equipment, it could be your spot if you go out there. Its on the right hand side on mead heading towards the lake. Stop by maybe you'll find some stuff for u.

I went there once and he said that most of his lures were so old they do not even sell those kinds anywhere else... I do like that it is family owned and operated.

sandy cove has been around a LOOONG time i remember going there in 1985 for minnows, it was an important/memorable part of me and dads fishing trips to las vegas wash, i'm surprised its still open with the bad economy and all the wal-marts around. and i have to say the wal-marts here in vegas are getting really thin on fishing gear, the henderson wal-mart on the way to the lake has the most gear i've noticed, but even still they have very little to pick from.
