decided to make an afternoon trip out to the same spot i went last week and got some dink action, got out to the lake about 2ish, and man that wind was blowing something nasty, the water was cappin, the rain was coming in sidewayz, and the bolt lightning was striking, but me and the boy still went for it we rigged up with swimbaits and caught nothing, went with spoons and nothing, not even a bite, then some guy came along and dropped us off some live shad i was sooo pumped i just knew we were gonna hook up, but again nothing...then i got REALLY discouraged when the same guy that gave me the shad came down with a bucket full (15 to be exact) of 2-5lb stripers and 2 nice smallies he had caught earlier that day, he said they were boiling not 20 feet from shore, right before we showed up. bad timing i guess. we left about 5:30pm, until next time...

Thats 2 bad syn the boils were the best i've seen in awhile there still more to come [] i'm glad to made it out of there before the rain came, I left at 1030am. The sun was actually pretty bright requiring thick sunblock and dark shades. Some of the dinksters I caught were hittin pretty light barely movin the line. I have always found it difficult to detect bites in wavy windy conditions.Were you fishin chovies on the bottom? and How were you riggin the shadsters?

no chovies that day, just some artificials and the shad later i was riggin them live through the nose, lips, or back on a circle hook castin out under a bobber and right on the bottom carolina rigged at the same time nothing from either. i kept the rest of the shad and froze them i'll use them next time.

Nice report. To bad about the bite. I was out there Saturday too but I was smallmouth hunting across the lake from where you were. Do you know where they netted the shad at. I have tried three times to net some shad and cant seem to find them.

yeah he was tossing the net right from shore it took about 5 mins to get about 20 he waded out about 2 feet and tossed his net. didn't know it was that easy.

From shore at boulder beach? Cool. I wonder how far down the "no boat" bouys go. lololol

Yeah shad is no joke now days my grandpa seems to be the only one that can net em in my fam and from a pontoon boat at that we usally spend 2-3 hours neting shad bfore we even grab a rod.
