More Big Guys at Scofield (And My Deer)
#1
Well we went up to Scofield for the Muzzeloader Deer hunt and desided to do some afternoon fishing while we were there. Good call. We caught tons of the stardard 12 inch cutts, but also landed a number of 20" + fish, encluding a 23 inch tiger trout and a monster 10lb 29" Cutthroat. Not bad for an afternoon of fishing. And i got my deer too. Big Grin Good weekend.

PS What is the biggest fish anyone has seen out of Scofield? I have heard of and seen a few 8 pounders but not anything over 10. Just curious.

Nice fish!! You know that there are some nice ones in there eating all the little ones. That is the biggest one I've heard of out of there in years if ever.

Were you bait fishing or using jigs/lures?

Oink... Oink...

Glad to see the cubs are feeding some huge fish, it always baffles me why we don't see more toads like this coming out of that lake.

Any recommendation of which part of the lake to fish? I'm a fly fisherman and new to float tubing. I've floated it once but didn't know much of what I was doing there since it is pretty big. Obviously you do [Wink]

Niiiiiice post. What a beast. Thanks for sharing. So didja keep him or release him? [crazy]
(kidding - I seen the kitchn sink!)
But seriously - meal, or mount? I had my first cutty this summer, and that was some very pink flesh alright. Almost salmon like!

Sounds like it was worth the stop to hit the fish and the deer. Fall's upon us - just that the weather doesn't know it yet! [Wink]

We are going to get him mounted. Pretty sure they don't get much bigger than that in scofield, and he will look great on the wall. I would love to know what was inside him as well, but don;t want to cut him open and mess something up for the mount. I have been catcing a lot of big fish this year there, but most of them were tigers, that is by far the biggest cutt i have seen there.

Nice fish!!

I know all the excitement is about the fish, but I want to know where you got the deer. We spend the first days of the hunt around Scofield and didn't see much of anything.

Congrats.
