Going to try my luck at Blackfoot Reservoir tomorrow. Thinking of going in by Henry and fishing from a small boat near access at that end but open to anywhere. Does anyone have any better suggestions? I have not fished there but did drive around the lake this summer over a weekend it was very crowded. I talked to some guys that had caught some perch near the campground near China. Has anyone caught any larger perch on the lake? Are there perch at the Henry end of the lake? Where would you fish if you went? I will post a report when I get back for anyone curious but any input on where to start would be great. Also, where is the dam on the lake? I do have a real good map of the lake but can't seem to find the dam on it. Thanks.

Haven't fished if personaly but have fam/hunting and fishing buds that do. Spring is best up there and as the summer went on the fishing slows down. The Dam is on the West end of the lake and as a whole that is not a very deep res. We joke and call it the big swamp. There are some decent trout in there from what they told me and some monster carp. This time of year the only thing that gets me up that way is scouting for the quacker opener.

Well, for anyone curious I fished near Buck Island today and saw what a full on algae bloom is. No fish. Saw a few carp cruising and saw a monster one turn away as I got close by. Fished about 3 hours with mostly a worm. Talked to an old timer at Cedar Bay and he said fishing had been good for rainbows. He hadn't seen any perch this year. The depth was very consistent at around 12'-13'' and it was down a bit but not to bad. I am going to have to read up on the algae blooms but don't think it can make fishing all that good. Seems it would mess with the oxygen. Next time I think I will try where Poison Creek and th eBlackfoot River come in. Nice quiet place for sure and nice scenery so will definately go back. Anyone with any past experience here that wants to chime in I woulld sure listen

You can launch at Pebble Beach . I would try there and straight across the lake from there . Curt G.

I tried my luck at Blackfoot Reservoir again this weekend. As the sun is going down around the hills there the views are quite impressive. I saw a guy land a very nice rainbow and I had a couple very nice hits I wasn't able to bring in. These old timers have been coming there for years and one knew of the perch and the other wasn't sure. Both were definately helpful tho.
.I found the dam also. Thanks.
I am curious if anyone knows that with all the sheep and cows everywhere along shore, are the fish good to eat? I started wondering that as I was out on the lake. I keep hoping to get into the perch I hear about there.
On another note, where would one fish to get into the perch on Alexander? Thanks.

It's generally a better fishery in the Spring to early Summer but you can't beat the fish there any time of year! [fishin]

I hunt up there alot and usually there is ice along the edges starting around now. Enjoy it before that happens, prob another week or so and bank fishing will be out of the question.

You never know in Idaho what the weather will do . I wish Henry's would freeze over early this year so I could get some ice fishing in . Curt G.
