Last Wednesday's Attempted Bassin'
#1
Sil240sx had an injury that rendered him unable to fish, so I hit up Erawk for a day of bass fishin' out of Callville.

Started off the day bad by sleepin through my alarm and leaving Erawk outside for about 30 minutes. Fortunately, he hung around and we finally hit the water about 6:15am.
Then, as we motored off towards our first fishing hole, Erawk says he left the beer in the truck! [shocked]

That's all right. We'll fish sober today. [Wink]

We started throwin spooks and cranks, but we just were not getting hit. Switched it up to some drop shot rigs, and Erawk got this super smallie with a 2.5" Gulp Smelt

I got no love tossin the drop shot, so I went back to tossin cranks. I threw a rattle trap for a bit, and landed a nice keeper smallie, but tossed it back before I thought to take a pic.

A while later, I was burning an x-rap when this big, fat fish came out of nowhere and clobbered my bait. Erawk and I both saw him roll on it right next to the boat. As soon as I set the hook, he popped off. Must have just barely skin hooked his lip. I thought it was a big 4+ lb LMB, Erawk thought it was a striper. He was probably right, 'cause 2 casts later (about 20 yds away) I nailed this guy-

Nice fight on those little fat stripers.

Rest of the day was a bust, and we left about noon. Great day out there. Weather was perfect for sun bathing, and I actually got a bit burnt on the chilly November day.

We headed out towards sandy cove, fishing the finger cove area before we headed back toward the callville bay coves. Got that striper by the new rocks in the bay.

That's promising.... The boils I have seen have been pretty short lived and weak.

I was sorry to hear about Sil's misfortune, but I was darn glad to be getting out to the lake. Here's to a quick recovery, Sil.

The fishing was a bit slow but not as slow as Willow, haha. All in all a good day on the water despite the late start and lack of beer [:p]
The fish that Whizzle lost chased the bait right up to the boat and attacked it, flashing a large white stomach as it got off. He sure got our attention.

We did both take a hit as we were trolling back to the marina. After missing the strike I reeled in my bait to find a small piece of fish lip on the rear hook. Doh! We stopped and casted back over the area but didn't hook up.

I had a great time, thanks Whizzle. And now I can tell my buddy he's a wuss for not taking his lil boat out there. haha [fishin]
