willard bay

Just a heads up for the crowds heading to fish WILLARD!
It took alot of talking to the DWR/park manager but I was able to convince him that the snow pile should be removed from the road which was blocking access to the docks at the north marina.
After some discussion concerning fisherman and the ethics which we should use, he agreed to allow access to the docks based upon the fact that all users will remove garbage, fish guts, ect and avoid vandalism (burn, cut, chop, drill) any of the docks, ect leave bait blood ect on dock areas or parking lot.
Also PAY at the gate as required regardless of the time of day!
QUOTE: If things are not kept as mentioned above we WILL lose our privilage to access and fish these areas both south and north marina's this has been made very clear, so fishing willard as much as i do i have been asked to get the word out to about willard that we must police our selves and others or do to the amount of irresponsible fisherman using it and not taking care of it WE ARE GOING TO LOSE THE RIGHT OF ACCESS IN WINTER !

bump - hope more folks see this.

You know it's only the lurkers that would act that way. [mad]

I'd wager a guess they've had problems with Winter fisher's before? Lets pack it out if we pack it in, and then some.

I thought they were opening things up more this year - like the gates at the S. Marina. Do they normally block off the N. Marina?

Thanks for hittin' them up and working a compromise to gain the access. Hope "we" respect it and use-wisely.

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully we can all pick up after ourselves.

Yes, thanks for the warning. Everyone needs to do their part to keep that area clean. I spent about 15 minutes picking up cupcake wrappers and sunflower seeds that someone had dumped all over different parts of the dock. I also picked up the empty sunflower seed bag that they had left behind.
