Another nice thing is that kokanee and brook trout are both listed as separate from the "trout" limit. You can have a limit of both to eat if you want.
So if an area has catch and release on trout, you can still keep brookies, whitefish etc.
if they are allowed in the region rules.

I talked to a guy about that at Mackay. He was excited that Kokes would be on a seperate limit.

I'm excited to have more pre-runoff streams to fish. It seems like they all opened up right in the thick of high water.

I hope the F&G officers have been made aware that the two species are now listed separately so by definition should have separate possession limits for the same trip on the same day.

MM, I am sure they have gone over them very carefully. I will probably have to tote the regulations with me just to recheck different water exceptions. Might be a good idea anyway so you can show it to them.
JeremyPeace, new regulations and a new licence both take effect with the new year, so don't anyone forget to get a new licence either. I am trying to remind myself here!!!

I already got my new license but they didn't have the new regs available where I went yet so I'll just keep looking.. Got my license now so I wouldn't forget when the new year rolles around.

I don't want to dig up any old ghosts, or flair any tempers, but I just looked through the new booklet and I can't find anything that says it's illegal to pick up a bull trout or wild steelhead and take a quick picture, however for sturgeon it specifically states that you can't take them out of the water.... Does this mean that a quick picture is OK now (not that that rule was enforced much before anyway), or did I just miss it?

I don't see anything about picking them up either. They must have just decided against it.
