little woman's first ice trip
#1
took the wife out to 20th street pond in ogden today.
after I setup the ice tent. she nervously tip toed out onto the ice. I told her not to worry there was at least 5" of ice. after getting into the tent I believed she felt saver. setup my Lowrance X67 in her hole and showed her how to read the fast trac on it. She had a ball watching the fish coming up to her jig, but had a hard time setting the hook. after several misses she did manage to ice one stocked bow. I got a few all bows biggest be about 16".
Was really a lot of fun and hope that she will join me on future trips.

Congrats on getting the bird out with ya. Glad she got a fish.
I've had to learn not to get TOO excited on a strike. Not trying to pull them right out in a single tug!

Got my boy out for his first time. He liked the tent, and the adventure. He did NOT like the ice checking underneath us, especially when you could FEEL it move.

I think the glub-glub sounds freaked him out - especially after dark.

My walk back Sat afternoon had LOTS of singing ice. Gurgles, and cracks. Not to mention snowmachines zipping by (is there a speed limit on the lakes?). They sure make the ice bounce a bit.
