I'm heading up to rockport tomorrow and was just wondering about the ice thickness. Would i be able to take my 4 wheeler off of the boat ramp or are the edges to soft? Any info would be great thanks.

I was there last Saturday and a wheeler would have been fine, ice was about 6-7 inches and solid all the way to shore. With this little "heat wave" we're having in the mid-30's I don't know if that has changed, but without a lot of sunshine it probably will still be just fine to go on, just be careful. Good luck, Im going again Monday.

I was there yesterday. 1-13-10. Edges were hard but there were a couple spots that didnt look hard. Ice was around 6 to 7 inches. Fishing was a little slow. Only pulled out 3 small rainbows from 9:30 to 2:00. I hear they are in about 10 feet of water. Saw a lot on the finder but they didnt seem to want my offering. I was using night crawlers on ice flies, swedish pimples, paddle bugs and just about everything else I could throw at them.

I was there this evening. There was about 7 inches of ice, and snowmachines were running all over it. Most of the edges were hard, but with the warm weather today, you could see some occasional slushy spots forming. Trout were biting in about 30 feet of water.
