Pelican Lake 1-15-11
#1
[#6000bf]Finally made it to pelican lake yesterday with my son. It was a great day 11degs when we got to the lake. Lots of anglers out fishing all ready. The ice was 12"+ and saw a couple snowmobiles out there to.[/#6000bf]

[#6000bf]The fishing was great with me busy helping my son take off one bluegill after another and me doing the same when I had time. The bite was on all day and we had alot of fun together. We spent alot of time jigging by hand and looking down the hole watching the bluegills come up and bite.[/#6000bf]

[#6000bf]My Custom baits I make in many colors were the hot ticket PM me for more info. Pink glow was a really hot color and some other glows in green and white were great to. We ended up with 90 bluegills with a couple 10"ers that were the biggest. We Released all but 2 of them. Had to bring home a couple to try for bluegill snackers. I spent alot of time just watching my son catch some bluegills taking pictures and some videos of My Custom plastics in Action. Pretty cool when you can watch and video them coming up and eating your jig.[/#6000bf]

Yeah, I have been. It has slowed down a ton for all species from first ice frenzy. It will be great once we can hit open h2o and get into some great fishing tho. Sometimes those last minute trips are the best ones of all

The thing we (Wife & I) love about your baits is that you don't have to tip them with anything. They have performed great for us the past two years. You can't beat the price and they last thru quite a few fish before you have to change them out.[fishin]

I'm on my way tonight. Should have taken you up on your offer of sharing your soft plastics when you offered last year, but felt awkward. I have really come to believe in all the little soft things on the market with tiny tails or legs that wiggle just a bit when hardly jigged at all.

Were fish found all over or in deep or shallow spots? I finally have a little sonar unit, so that should help.

Looks like a fine day...

Also, I see a swivel on the lure in one of the pics. Is that a swivel or a spinner or anything like that?

hey springbuck, good luck on the fishing down there we were fishing in 12' ft of water and caught alot looking down the hole watching them come in and take my plastics.

We also caught fish trying holes that other anglers cut through out the day and had walking back to the truck dropping down holes all the way back to the edge of the lake in as shallow as 4'. There were plenty of holes to try that other anglers had drilled, fished and left to fish other areas.

Yup thats a swivel on the line im using so I can use 2 jigs and that keeps your line from getting line twist. It works really well for me I think its up to each angler. Some anglers say those swivels will scare off the fish but we have caught every kind of species of fish we have gone after using a swivel. Everything from perch to 35lb lake trout. I Very Rarely fish without a swivel.

looking forward to seeing your report when you get back [Smile]

Hey Jim, Glad to see you and John made it out to Pelican. It's a great place to take kids. Sounds like you had a great time get'n into the gills.

Your custom plastics have been doing well for me also this season.

Hey Thanks Ron We had a great time and John was hooking them and reeling them in so fast that I didnt have much time to fish and he got ahead of me in the fishing derby we were having [laugh].

He is still talking about His big ling you Mounted up for him and telling everyone where to get one mounted[cool]. We have had alot of compliments on the mount and it looks great on the wall. We have told alot of guys where your at and how to get a hold of you for a ling mount. He was so excite he celebrated with a big candy bar and just finished as you can see but made sure he washed his hands before he held up his ling mount[sly]

Hope all is going good with you and your family. My wife and daughter said they would go back to pelican lake again if it was a nice day like when we met up with you and your family. That was one of the warmest days I have ever fished pelican lake and we all had a great time. we were just looking at the pictures of that fishing trip the other day.[cool]

Thanks again glad to hear the plastics are working for you to. I bet Alex is putting you up to a good fishing derby these days to. Those kids sure love to fish [Smile] maybe we will see you out on the ice again sometime
