Headed out with to Hyrum and met up with a couple of friends this morning. Looked like a huge sheet of glass. The rain knocked off all of the snow. Not too much water on top of the ice either. Ice was a good 8"+ thick. We got into some dink perch and a lot of rainbow. There were 4 in our group. Another group of about joined us later. The bigger group ended up catching 30+ fish. I caught around 30, one friend caught around 20, and the other was around 35. His little boy landed 5 or 6 on his own too. One was a nice 16" rainbow. Fun morning, but around 12:30, the fish went somewhere else. No pics of the fish, but a couple of the ice. I really enjoyed it.

I was there today and didn't have nearly as much luck as that! It definitely was slick today, and I had to walk very carefully to avoid slipping. I also had to go to work later on that day. We had a few good rounds with the rainbows, but they were few and far between. It sure was a beautiful day though!

Ben - that looks really cool! Seriously walking on water! Nice. Had a taste of that at Willard. With all the slush -by the time I'd cleared holes and flushed up some water - pretty well cleared the ice under the tent.
Now if only I'd had some fish to watch dance up under that ice! Wish I had taken the day off work to join ya (ok, can say that about ANY day of the week!). Clear ice is a neat site. New to me. Trust the edges are still good. You had me SO temped to run up after work today. Ah, but....
Still thinking Newton needs a visit. Hope the edges are still good there. So you didn't move out deeper and find my perch schools then? Just playing with 'da trouts. Sounds like some good action between ya'll.
Glad ya got out again. Wish I hadn't wasted Sunday on Willard, but was worth a shot (not gonna find a walleye in Hyrum!)

I did move deeper, but only found some dink perch. The trout were right there on the bottom too. I was hoping to catch some nicer perch, but couldn't find them.
