Lake Mead Fishing Report
#1
BLM brought his Utah luck with him for a great weekend of chasing boils at Lake Mead.

Saturday,08/30- Fished am, started at the Boulder Islands scratching a few off the surface. Headed for Saddle Island at about 6:45 and ran into several large boils during the next hour and a half. Caught 35 fish, one about five pounds. What a great Day!

Sunday,08/31- Fished pm, small boils near Saddle Island, never really staying on the surface very long. Caught 9 stripers between 16-20 inches. Off the water before 9:00 am.

Monday,09/01- Fished am, combat fishing at it's best. It seemed to me that everytime a boil started to happen the large number of boats present (including mine) would cut the bite off. Caught 9 stripers again.

Great weekend! All of our fishing was top water action, however, I'm sure if we would have jigged in addition to top water fishing we would have been more successful. A friend of mine only jigged on Sunday and caught 10 nice stripers.

Ya, the fishing was pretty good. The fish get a lot of pressure from all the boats charging the boils. I guess everybody's got to get their fair share! We did hit one nice boil and we were the only boat on it for 15 minutes. We didn't pressure it and the fish stayed up and fed. I'd like to be a Monday thru Thursday fisherman there. [Image: gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=557;]

Classic picture of your bro' BLM. BaySport, nice to see you aboard. I'd like to join you sometime (mine or yours) and compare notes (my notes are older than yours). We used to catch a bunch in the fall, when we weren't after the boils, by jigging blue and silver Crippled Herrings in Vegas Bay (along with all the other anchored/drifting boats). Better yet, cast net some Shad and get them downs on a drop-shot rig. Invest in some flood lights for jigging at night and you'll have a blast jiggin' and drinkin' beer.
