fish lake
#1
Went to fish lake again this las weekend. With my dad took a few kids from the neighborhood and one handicapped kid. They had a lot of fun catching perch with a rainbow or splake in the mix every once in a while. Thank goodness we had the tents or the kids would have been blown off the lake . We had a lot of fun though. I wont be getting out this weekend I have drill but presidents day weekend I will probably go up to the berry.

Rumor has it that one tent went blowing all the way across the lake last weekend -- WITH A KID IN IT! Sounds like he was beat up a bit (after the ride stopped), and scared, but OK otherwise.

I guess I still don't understand tents on the ice. If the wind isn't blowing, then it's usually nice enough to not be in one. If the wind is blowing, I'd be scared to death to stick my kids on one of those "kites".

PBH, we were already across the lake. To be honest with are tents there is no bottom. The tent would just blow away. We anchor them pretty good. It was funny that the two old guys were outside the whole time and everybody else were in the tents.

I have had one tent of mine roll end over end when a friend untied it without me knowing. it wasnt damaged but I suggest collapsing it first then pulling the stakes this usually works for me. There was a fellow fisherman that had his double eskimo on its maiden voyage rip the gromets out he was pretty upset. can't blame him though. BRING CLEATS AND SAVE YOUR BODY!!!

I was there on Saturday as well. I did not bring the tent because it was too windy. We saw a tent blow over and two guys spill out. They did catch it. We lost a bucket when someone stood up to catch a fish. I did catch a sled with a tent rolled up inside and full of supplies. It must have been coming 35 mph. I wasn't sure I could stop it, but did without incident. The guy had to walk about 200 yds to get it back. It sure can blow on FL.

We have never had a problem when anchoring the tents. THe biggest problem we have had is the wind collapsing a wall but we fix that with a piece of rope and an anchoring peg.

I can't remember if it was old carp or one of his friends that would tell us to always watch the wind at Fish Lake when we were younger because they saw one with a plastic bottom shoot across the lake with two guys in it or something like that. Maybe old carp can fill us in.
