On February 26 I am taking some scouts ice fishing. I am contemplating East Canyon, Rockport or Pineview. I have not fished Rockport or East Canyon enough to know where I should start with some pre-trip excursions. There could be about 6-10 kids and a few adults. Ultimate goal is a fish per kid. No honeyholes needed just some good information for me to start checking out some areas which may or may not be productive. Thanks for any information.

Keep your jig only about 15' under the ice at EC. I've had better luck in deeper water with the jig up high at EC. At rockport fish close to the shoreline and down on the bottom for trout in shallow water. At Pineview avoid the crowds and you will be fine. All 3 have excellent waters. It's great to take the kids out fishing just keep in mind there are others fishing around you also. Have a good time.

Thanks for the help. These are an older group of kids 14-17 years old and I have know many of them for a long time. I have always given space on waters where others are fishing. The boys are pretty quiet but you know how boys can be.

I don't doubt that one bit. Last year I took them out and sat down with each one as we got started and showed them how my fish finder worked. To say the least some of those kids caught on quite fast. It was a hoot just to watch. Thanks again for the help.

I have fished East Canyon pretty much every weekend for the last for 4 weeks or so and have caught fish in deep and shallow water but most fish have been suspended. PM if you decide to go up there and I will point you in the right direction with a little more info.
