Hyrum Fishing?
#1
I was thinking of heading up there Saturday to wet the boat. Are any of the docks in yet? Also maybe a fishing report!

Fished it last Sat. The docks are in at the State Park ramp. Fishing was extremely slow. Planning on hitting it again Saturday. Should be a warmer day at least. Any info on early season bass patterns for Hyrum would be greatly appreciated.

I'll second that. Water's nice and high, but not as high as last spring, but that was later in the season. May go up more as runoff hits.

Gave it a float a couple weeks back. I too had slow fishing. Didn't hardly even spot up any on the finder till I got up past the beach area toward the inlet.
The cars area usually holds a lot of bass. Lots of structure to hide in. I've thought the bass would be up in the shallow weedy area beyond the inlet (south-east), but I've never had any luck finding them there.

One angler suggested a large heavy tube jig, and slam it down THROUGH the weeds, and they'll be hanging out below and slam it. Same suggestion for Mantua. Sounded good - haven't made it work.

I'm thinking to head up an try Newton myself this afternoon. Finally! A nice day out!!!
Good luck - let us know how it goes.

Absolutely the reservoir water level will rise. I don't expect Hyrum to really 'pick up' until mid to late May. Expect the water to be somewhat stained and fishing to be moderate at best.

I'm no master but it seems bass are slower at coming around when the water is still so cold...but what do I know.

Are the perch hitting? Is the water still clear? Guess I'll join the party tomorrow too...

We went,we launched, we got soaked! Fished from about 12-2pm. We caught a 12inch rainbow and there was only one other boat out there while we were fishing. At the ramp at 2 there was a few more boats starting to launch. Water was murky!

That was skunked and me we had a blast and got soaked. I liked the way the whole side of the south east shore sluffed off into water that would have been fun to see We were having a problem identify this fish it looks like a splake but we do not know.

That's a brown. Notice the square tail. Splake have more of a forked tail.
Nice fish!
