Got out to shake down my boat.. Got to the Nell at 2:00 or so the wind was out of the north and coming in on the ramp and sense I was alone I headed for the PWC ramp...

Yes nice and calm, the boat started up and I was off, well may be just looking with my new depth finder and trying to get it working...

Fished in a few spots and went all around the lake, they are still pulling water out...

Up the arm at the wake less buoys the water is only 5' to 8' deep and MUDY from the water cutting through the mud from other years run off..
The water coming in is almost clear but most of the arm is muddy out about half way..

I did find three bass and one brown, the bass was around 15" and the brown at 25 1/2"...

Thanks for the report bassrods. I love the Nelle for the smallmouth and can't wait for May! If you don't mind me asking what was the water temp? Also, what method were you using to catch the bass in such, I am assuming, cold water? I give credit to you and your information for getting me hooked on smallmouth fishing. It is the greatest rush there is.
Thanks bassrods,

Dfish

Cliff,
A 25 in brown is a pretty darn nice fish...glad ya found a couple willing fish. Hopefully we will have a warm sunny day this month. Sounds like the water is pretty low too so that might slow things down till it comes back up

Water temps was 40 when in calm water and when the wind was kicking 37..

And I was drop shotting most of the time and using a weight-less sink-o other times most fishing was in 20' to 60'+..

It snowed a little and rained a little and the sun did shine a little I got the fish when it was raining so didn't try to get any pictures but at the launch ramp when loading up I remembered the camera and took a few.. An in the fourth picture if you look close you can see a white tail Jack rabbit .. [inline DSC05693.JPG]

The water is real low, the trout was ease to find but tangle your line so I don't try for them that much..

I could see them on my NEW fish finder [Wink] so I wanted to see what the arches was when I got that one..It was my first fish of the day..

OH man, I was going up Saturday to see if I could find it!!!!![cool][cool]
Well I still have my hopes up, but I get excited with ANYTHING on the fly....in this case, size really doesn't matter much to me...LOL.
A nice little 10" on a 2 wt. is awesome, and a trophy too...[Wink]

Maybe you should be suspended for stirring the pot and poking the bear. It is, after all, a fishing forum and we expect some embellishment from most of us, and more from others. Live with it or don't read his posts.

OK. Suspend me too. I guess pointing out the breaking of rules is also against the rules now too. I just feel bad for all those fathers looking to take their kids out for to catch those easy to find 26" browns, to only get skunked, probably fall in the lake, get hypothermia and die.

[cool][#0000ff]What's with all the drama? You need to go fishing instead of raggin' on someone else who does.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Bassrods has posted lots of pics of big browns on this board. When I was a moderator I edited a lot of his pictures into his posts.[/#0000ff]

Just having some fun. No drama. But you have to scratch your head after hearing about dozens of browns caught over 24 inches by the same buy over the last two years to never see one picture of one over 24 inches. Just wanted to point out the likelihood of a false report to prevent others from making plans based on those false reports. I am sure if I had a bunch of reports with pictures of a bunch of average trout and then mentioned landing a 20-22 inch smallie that wasn't worth my time photographing, EVERY TRIP, I would expect the same reaction.

the big browns are there i recomend ya go see 4 yourself before calling someone a liar!! bassrods has caught many large browns and i have witnessed this with my own eyes and he does catch enough to not bother taking pictures of them all, hell he caught one i had to the boat and due to a poorly tied not lost my luckys crankbait, and he caught it with the crankbait still in it !! seen the pictures. so i would recomend placing stock in his words and get off your but and try fishing instead of badgering!!!
