I’m headed to Lake Powell next week. Headed to bullfrog, I noticed there is a BASS tourney at the same time. Is this going to fill up the camp ground? Are the tourney people as big a jerks as people say? Running you over if you are where they want to fish and so on? Anyone know anything let me know[:/]

Wow! Talk about profiling! Just like any group of people there are actions that are remembered and applied to the group as a whole. That does not mean the entire group is bad. One bad apple yada yada. I'm sure you'll be fine fishing wherever you want, as far as lodging goes it's going to be busy at Bullfrog.

Sorry that you feel that the Tournament guys will be rude and unsportsmanlike. This event is the Western Regional for The BASS Federation, FLW. You will have 8 man teams from 8 Western states completing. Most will spread out over the lake, from the San Juan to Hite. Unless the weather is nasty, they will be hardly be noticable. I find that Waterskiers and Waverunner operators are by far the worse sportsman. These guys are interested in fishing and will spend most of their time with their line in the water. Due to the nature of the lodging at Bullfrog, they will have most of the lodge, some will be staying on Houseboats, and some camping. Won't be any worse than an average weekend in the Summer. I am sure that you will be able to find the one or two guys in the Tournament that are not the best sportsman however !!!!

Hmmm, I think that saying that we run people over to get to a spot is exaggerating. I only buzz by people[mad]
It's funny, i've been a fisherman my entire life and I never had a problem with bass tournament guys.
I've fished an awful lot of tournaments and I have to wonder if tournament anglers all of the sudden loose their humanity, rights and quit being fishermen? It doesn't seem so, but that's the impression I get from reading this quality post and others like it
But then again, maybe it's just me and tournament anglers are just a second class group of jerks, yeah that must be it, because we here in Utah have got everything figured out, Right? Right!

First of all I never made a statement about Tournament Fisherman. I asked a Question. I have heard a lot about Tournaments but never fished during one. SOOOOO I just asked a question and all of a sudden you guys are all over me like white on rice. If you had a good experience let me know all we hear is the bad. Im spending a lot of money to go to Powell and I didn’t want it ruined!!! Sorry I asked a question!!![mad]

I was at Bullfrog during a bass tournament last year and it was fine. As one of these other posts states you probably won't really even notice them unless the weather is bad and they all congregate in the same area but more than likely they will be spread out all over and since its such a big lake you may not even notice them there at all. The ones I encountered last year though were really nice as camp neighbors, boaters and fisherman so I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy your trip and even though the camping may be a little crowded I am willing to bet the trip will be well worth the money. I am heading that way in a few weeks so please fill me in on how the fishing was for you!
