take me as a fool, but i have caught many types of panfish/sunfish/crappie in my life and i have not run across one like this around my parts. any help identifying would be much appreciated!

Hmm,looks like the ones we have here in south Fl.good bass bait,We seen them jump out of the water with 5lb bass jumping after them. I've seen them light colored in lakes, and darker in the glades.

Looks like a blue gill but I've never seen one that dark before. could be a male in spawning season though? Blue gill are good eating
